Introducing another member to the project on ‘Grenadian People’ I was able to photograph the Grenadian author Cindy McKenzie. Cindy was in London to promote her latest novel ‘Force Ripe’ which she says has taken 14 years to write. The story is about a little girl growing up in Grenada but is left with her grandparents while her parents went abroad to work as was common during the 70s. The story is about the little girl’s experience growing up in the ghetto.
During her busy schedule to promote her book I was able to photograph her in South London. Wandle Park was the location I chose for her portraits which was busy due to this being the first week of school summer holidays. The weather was good to us very warm and sticky with the sun diving in and out of the clouds. From a series of many shots taken I chose this one because of her expression and pose.
