The last day of the month and the last blog for the month of September. The model in the image above is Ean Flanders himself. I believe it is important as a serious photographer to experience and to remind yourself how challenging it can be to have your portrait taken. Whether it’s by another photographer or shot by myself in my Liverpool based studio. Communication is key to establishing good rapport with your subject making them feel at ease and having a clear understanding that many people find it difficult to have their portrait taken in an intimate setting. Taking my self-portrait comes with similar challenges in terms of all the skills required to achieve a contemporary creative image that I would be happy with. The portrait was shot with two speedlights and the third light was the sun through the studio windows.
